Summer Reading Challenge

Jul 02

This summer term Hanford has hosted a series of events to inspire the girls to keep up with their reading over the summer holidays.

We were visited by the fabulous children’s author Abi Elphinstone who talked to the lower school about what inspires her writing and her latest book ‘Rumble Star’. Our lucky girls were given advanced copies signed by Abi on the day.

The day before the talk the girls from Morgan hosted a 1940’s tea party for staff dressed as characters from ‘Letters from the Lighthouse’ by Emma Carol who is a great friend of Abi’s.

More recently, the school has hosted its very first book fair which was a huge success selling hundreds of books as most girls chose 6 books each. This was followed by a visit from Blandford Library who encouraged the lower school girls to participate in the national Summer Reading Challenge.

Happy Reading.
