Junior Wessex Athletics
We arrived at 9.40am in the morning for ready for the track events which were run in heats. Our teams entered competitors for 75m, 100m, 200m 800m, 55m hurdles and the 4 x 100m relay.
In the field events which also ran throughout the afternoon, we entered competitors for Long Jump, High Jump and throwing a rounders ball.
Overall, the girls performed their best on the day with some making it through their heats to qualify for the finals. Two of our girls were first in the Long Jump – Lavender, U10 and Miranda, U11. Lavender was also 3rd in 800m and 2nd in 55m hurdles which, when combined with her Long Jump result meant that she was awarded the trophy for the Best U10 Athlete.
This is a long day for any competitor and particularly so for such a young age group. As they were all so well behaved Mrs M bought them all an ice cream.
