The North Wing of the Stables, until now used only for storage of farm machinery, is shortly to be lovingly and sensitively restored. The resulting building will become the new home for all Hanford’s creative subjects.
Our head of art is a working artist, Lucy Bentley, who has an almost limitless imagination when it comes to identifying ways to develop our girl’s creativity. She uses all corners of Hanford – the house, gardens, grounds and animals. There probably is not a building big enough to hold her creative ambition and the talent of our girls but we hope this new building will give them an even more exciting and inspiring space in which to work.
The Art Barn will not just house an art classroom it will also be joined by Handwork. Thus bringing together these two highly creative disciplines under one roof. The standard of work produced in Flora’s Handwork department has caught the eye of many senior schools who prize Hanford girls for their technical skills as well as their imagination.
