Hanford’s Festival of Performing and Creative Arts, Monday 19 – Sunday 25th June

Head to Hanford between 19 – 25th June when the school opens its doors to the public for their Festival of Performing and Creative Arts with concerts and talks throughout the week. Take your pick from “An evening with Larry Lamb”, perhaps best known for his starring roles in Gavin & Stacey and EastEnders, a classical concert with leading violinist Shana Douglas, a concert with the British soprano singer Alexandra Lowe or a ‘Play on Words’ with performer, composer and lyricist Hal Cazalet who will bring the lyrics and stories of P G Wodehouse to life in an evening of music, laughter, romance and glamour.
The range and wealth of talent involved in this week’s festival is remarkable and testament to Hanford’s commitment to fostering creativity, curiosity and fun. The events are all available to book on Eventbrite and will cost between £10 – 20. Drinks will be available from 6.30pm and the events will run from 7 – 8pm. The week will end on an upbeat note with the beautiful Hanford gardens on display to visitors as part of the National Gardens Scheme, along with live music from Phil Blake’s Band, teas and cakes and magic by the Great Baldini.

Festival of Performing and Creative Arts this summer will bring to an end a year-long focus on all-things creative at Hanford. During the festival week, pupils will enjoy an action-packed programme of events including workshops on photography, film combat, costume design, drama, acrobatics and more.
Events that are open to parents and the public are listed below. Each show will start at 7pm and run for approximately an hour. There will be drinks available before the events from 6.30pm onwards:
Monday 19 June, 7pm: Concert by Soprano Alexandra Lowe
Tuesday 20 June, 7pm: “Play on Words” a musical celebration of P.G.Wodehouse on Broadway performed by performer, composer and lyricist Hal Cazalet with Simon Beck on piano. An Evening of Music, Laughter, Romance and Glamour.
Wednesday 21 June, 7pm: – Concert “Music through the ages, Shana Douglas with Julian Gallant” starring classical violinist Shana Douglas
Saturday 24 June, 7pm: An Evening with actor Larry Lamb, one of Britain’s most popular and accomplished stage and screen actors. best known for his roles as ‘Mick Shipman’ in Gavin & Stacey and ‘Archie Mitchell’ in Eastenders.
Sunday 25 June: Open Gardens at Hanford, as part of the National Gardens Scheme, along with music from Phil Blake’s Band and magic by The Great Baldini.
