National Garden Scheme
18th May 2018 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
Hanford will be opening its garden as part of the National Garden Scheme again this year. Lots of hard work by girls, staff, parents and the grounds team has gone on for months to ensure the gardens and grounds will be looking their absolute best. The magnificent Jacobean Manor house is set in 45 acres of grounds comprising a working walled kitchen garden, a Victorian knot garden, a water garden, a small gothic chapel and lawns as well as fields and orchards. The walled garden is home to a blaze of floral colour throughout the year providing all the cut flowers used to decorate the school. There are some magnificent trees in the grounds; of particular note are a rare Black Walnut tree and a majestic Atlas Cedar which is over 18 meters tall and is known by the girls as the ‘ climbing tree’. The gardens will be open from 2pm-4.30pm and entry is free. For more information please visit www.ngs.org.uk.
