Inaugural Junior Cross Country Competition gets off to a racing start
The inaugural Hanford Junior Cross Country Competition took place on a very sunny Tuesday 26 September. The competition was for children in Years 3, 4 and 5 and we were delighted that Durweston Primary and Bryanston Prep pupils came along to take part, alongside the Hanford girls with lots of support from parents and staff.
The children ran a 1.5k course around Hanford’s beautiful grounds, with older pupils acting as stewards and cheering the younger children as they made their way around the course. First place went to Archie from Bryanston Prep, who completed the race in a speedy 8 minutes and 58 seconds; the fastest girl was Octavia, who counted as our winner for Hanford, who came in at 9 minutes and 44 seconds.
Sarah Butt, Deputy Head of Hanford and Head of Games, said, “We were delighted that our first Junior Cross Country competition got off to such a great start. It was lovely to welcome the other schools to Hanford and to see all the children taking part with so much enthusiasm. We are looking forward to this competition becoming an annual event, and no doubt growing in size with more schools taking part.”
