Mrs C Day – celebrating our Founder

Oct 04

Once a year Hanford pupils and staff come together to celebrate the school’s Founder, Mrs Canning or Mrs C as she was known.    The celebrations take place on the first Monday in October, close to Mrs C’s birthday with a whole school tea where pupils and staff dress up in the fancy dress costume of their choice.   The girls put the costumes together themselves, many making and designing their own costumes to the delight and surprise of their friends and teachers.    Every year the costumes are wonderfully creative and this year was no exception:  Elvis, David Bowie and Dolly Parton mingled with Top Gun pilots, Little Red Riding Hood and some cunningly disguised Pizzas and Strawberry milkshakes.

A birthday cake is always cut by the youngest girl in the school – this year Isabella, aged 8 years old, did the honours with Mrs J lending a helping hand.
