Following Sarah C’s wishes the Utrillo painting Chapelle en Bretagne, which has spent many years in a bank vault, is to be auctioned by Sotheby’s this Wednesday.
We still have a print hanging over the fireplace in the drawing room – where many of you will no doubt remember her asking what was wrong with it.
She felt the original might better serve the Hanford girls by generating funds. With plans for an exciting new art barn in the pipeline and a phone call from Sothebys it seemed that the time was right to let it go. We hope it finds as happy a new home as Hanford.
