U11A and U11B Hockey v Leweston
This afternoon all of the Vth Form were involved in hockey matches against Leweston. It was lovely to be hosting some hockey matches on the grass pitch at Hanford. Although it was quite damp and slightly foggy, both matches were played to a good standard and there were very few slips and slides!
The U11A team played first and in a very even match, the game was drawn at half time 1-1. A quick break out by the Leweston team with a dynamic run from the half way line and an accurate shot on goal, saw Leweston go ahead by a goal. This was followed by another excellent finish and the match finished 1-3 to Leweston. A well deserved win for them. Lily and Rachel both played well in defence and Emily scored a lovely goal for the Hanford team. Clemmie made a significant number of saves in goal too. Hanford School-U11A and B Hockey v Leweston 3
The U11B team were very dogged in their approach and hassled and tackled with determination in all areas of the pitch. The game was very narrow as most players tended to follow the ball but they hadsome good runs and were able to create some opportunities on goal. If anything, they were too polite with each other in the D! Hanford scored in the first half and this proved to be the only goal in the game. Cerella and Sachini were very reliable in the defence and Francesca hit the ball strongly in the midfield. The Leweston team awarded Kitty, their player of the match which was well deserved.
