World Book Day
World Book Day at Hanford was particularly amazing this year. Each year group dressed up in a specific fairytale theme and took part in various themed activities across the day. Because of all the wonderfully large costumes, the chapel service was moved into the Hall where the girls sung the hymn ‘When a Knight won his spurs’.
Later on the Juniors, dressed in Goldilocks-themed costumes, made delicious porridge and painted pictures of porridge bowls.
The UVIth made a ginger bread house which was transformed into a fantastic ‘Jack and the Bean Stalk’ scene accompanied with chocolate cakes decorated with jelly beans.
The girls all put a lot of effort into their costumes and then, in year groups, performed skits of their fairytale for the rest of the school.
There were other activities as well such as crown making and decorating and an obstacle course in the gym. The girls and staff had a wonderful day infused with literature and fairytales!
